Program Description:
This program, Next Steps: Transition from College to Career, is a two-part workshop series designed to support Black first-generation college students at the University of Maryland in navigating the transition from college to the workforce. Grounded in critical race theory, African indigenous models, Schlossberg’s transition theory, the workshops provide tailored career guidance, foster mentorship through alumni panels, and validate students' lived experiences. By centering cultural wealth and relational engagement, the program equips participants with tools to confidently support Black first-generation college students at the University of Maryland to pursue their career aspirations.
